EMGS has officially received a Letter of Award from MariEnergies to perform offshore Controlled-Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) surveys within Pakistan's waters. The primary objective of these surveys is to support ongoing hydrocarbon exploration activities. By acquiring advanced marine geophysical data, the project seeks to provide more precise geological assessments, which are crucial for optimizing drilling strategies and improving the success rate of energy exploration in multiple offshore blocks.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signifies potential future project cargo movements related to offshore energy infrastructure. While the immediate impact on freight rates or capacity is minimal, successful exploration could lead to significant demand for heavy-lift and oversized cargo transport for equipment, modules, and vessels required for subsequent drilling and production phases. Forwarders should monitor such exploration projects as indicators of long-term demand in the energy logistics sector, particularly for specialized breakbulk and project cargo services in the region.
