UK-based shipbuilder Diverse Marine has been awarded a contract by OEG Marine Services to construct three new crew transfer vessels (CTVs). These vessels are specifically designed for supporting operations in offshore wind farms. The deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2027, with the first vessel expected in the third quarter, followed by the second in the fourth quarter, and the final vessel in the first quarter of 2028.
This order follows a previous agreement for a single CTV, bringing the total number of vessels under construction for OEG Marine Services to four. The CTVs will feature a design from Bar Technologies, emphasizing efficiency and performance in demanding offshore environments. This expansion of OEG's fleet underscores the growing demand for specialized support vessels within the offshore wind sector.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signifies continued investment and growth in the offshore wind sector, particularly in Europe. The construction and deployment of these CTVs will support ongoing and future wind farm projects, potentially increasing demand for project cargo logistics, heavy-lift services, and specialized transport for components and equipment related to offshore wind infrastructure. It also highlights the specialized vessel market's role in enabling renewable energy expansion, which may impact vessel availability and charter rates for similar specialized tonnage.
