Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), a facility managed by ICTSI at the Port of Rijeka in Croatia, recently announced a significant operational achievement: the handling of its four millionth TEU. This milestone reflects the cumulative throughput since ICTSI acquired the terminal in 2011.
This sustained growth at AGCT underscores its increasing importance as a gateway for containerized cargo in the Adriatic region. The terminal has continuously invested in infrastructure and technology to enhance its capacity and efficiency, supporting trade flows through Croatia.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this milestone indicates the Port of Rijeka's growing reliability and capacity. Increased throughput suggests a robust operational environment, potentially leading to more consistent vessel schedules and improved turnaround times for cargo. It reinforces Rijeka as a viable entry point into Central and Eastern European markets, offering an alternative to more congested Northern European ports. This could influence routing decisions and transit times for shipments destined for the region.
The continued development and performance of AGCT are expected to further solidify its position within the broader European logistics network, potentially attracting new shipping lines and expanding service offerings.
