Wison New Energies (WNE), an energy services provider based in China, has officially begun the fabrication process for a new Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. This milestone, marked by the first steel cut, signifies the start of construction for the critical offshore facility. The FPSO is intended for deployment in the next phase of a significant oil and gas development situated off the coast of Côte d'Ivoire, which is operated by the Italian energy company Eni.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development indicates future project cargo movements. The fabrication of such a large and complex vessel will involve the transport of numerous heavy-lift and oversized components from various suppliers to Wison's yards. Once completed, the FPSO itself will require specialized heavy-lift shipping for its journey from the fabrication site to the offshore field in Côte d'Ivoire. This project will generate demand for breakbulk and project cargo services, including potential port calls for heavy-lift vessels and specialized inland transport for modules.
