Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have awarded EEW SPC the contract to produce 69 transition piece-free monopiles for the Zeevonk offshore wind farm. This project, with a capacity of 1 GW, is located in the Dutch North Sea. The chosen monopile design is intended to decrease the overall steel requirement for the project, which contributes to material efficiency and potentially lower costs.
This manufacturing approach is also expected to simplify the logistics involved in transporting the large components and their subsequent installation offshore.
