Global towage operator Svitzer has announced a new agreement with Cheoy Lee Shipyards for the construction of six more 29-meter TRAnsverse tugboats. This latest order builds on an existing partnership, as eight identical TRA2900 tugs are already in the final stages of construction at Cheoy Lee's facility in Zhuhai, China, and are preparing for sea trials.
The TRAnsverse tug model, measuring 29 meters in length, is designed for versatile applications, including both escort and harbor towage. These vessels are equipped with 80 tonnes of bollard pull, providing significant power for maneuvering large ships.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this fleet expansion by Svitzer signals a continued commitment to maintaining robust towage services in key port areas.
