NYK Group has officially named its latest LNG carrier, the Diamond Gas Nexus, during a ceremony held at HD Hyundai Samho Co. in South Korea. This new vessel boasts a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters and is powered by a WinGD X-DF 2.2 iCER engine. This advanced engine technology allows the carrier to utilize both traditional fuel oil and boil-off gas as fuel sources, enhancing its operational efficiency and environmental performance.
The Diamond Gas Nexus is slated for a long-term time-charter agreement with DGE, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation based in Singapore. Under the management of the NYK Group, the vessel's primary role will be the transportation of liquefied natural gas for the Cameron LNG project.
