Hutchison Ports BEST has significantly upgraded its container terminal in Barcelona by adding two new Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes. These advanced cranes are designed to handle the largest container vessels currently in operation, accommodating ships up to 26 container rows wide. Each crane boasts a lifting height of 55 meters below the spreader, enabling efficient handling of high-stacked containers.
This expansion increases the terminal's total complement of Super Post-Panamax quay cranes to fifteen, reinforcing its position as a key gateway in the Mediterranean. The investment reflects ongoing efforts to modernize port infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.
