The Hardenbergerbrug, carrying the A28 highway, was initially closed to road traffic for at least 48 hours starting Monday afternoon.

Inland waterway transport using the Arkervaart will need to find alternative routes, potentially causing delays and increased transit times for cargo moving through this region. Road freight on the A28 is already affected, and now the inability to use the underpass further complicates local access and diversions. Shippers should anticipate longer lead times and potentially higher costs for deliveries to and from areas dependent on this bridge and waterway.
