The Port of Guangzhou recently achieved a milestone by conducting its first ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering of bio-methanol. Chinese producer CIMC Enric provided around 1,000 metric tons of pure bio-methanol to the "Green Future," a methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier operated by NYK Group. The bunkering operation took place at the Lantau Anchorage within the Port of Guangzhou, with Sinobunker's vessel, Daqing 268, facilitating the delivery.
This event signifies a notable advancement in the adoption of alternative, lower-emission fuels within the maritime sector, particularly in the Asia region. The use of bio-methanol as a marine fuel contributes to the shipping industry's decarbonization efforts.
