Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Netherlands are now able to apply for financial assistance to strengthen their defenses against cyberattacks. The government initiative, named "Mijn Cyberweerbare Zaak" (My Cyber-Resilient Business), has allocated a total budget of €1 million for the year 2026.
Under this program, eligible businesses can claim a reimbursement of 50% of their cybersecurity-related expenses, with a maximum subsidy amount of €1,250 per company. The application window for this scheme opened on September 7th.
For freight forwarders and logistics operators, particularly smaller firms, this subsidy offers a valuable opportunity to invest in crucial cybersecurity infrastructure without bearing the full cost. Enhanced cyber protection can mitigate risks such as data breaches, ransomware attacks, and operational disruptions, which are increasingly prevalent in the logistics sector. This directly impacts operational continuity and the security of sensitive shipment data, potentially reducing the likelihood of costly service interruptions or compliance issues.
