Qatar Airways Cargo will commence its first scheduled freighter service from Helsinki, Finland, next month, beginning September 2. The new weekly operation will follow a Doha-Budapest-Helsinki-Doha routing. A Boeing 777 freighter will be deployed for this service, providing a significant 100 tonnes of export cargo capacity from Helsinki each week.
For freight forwarders and logistics managers, this new service presents an opportunity for increased air cargo capacity out of Finland, particularly for shipments destined for the Middle East and beyond via Qatar's Doha hub. The additional capacity could help stabilize or even reduce airfreight rates on this specific lane, offering more flexibility for export planning. The direct connection also potentially improves transit times for cargo originating in the Nordic region.
