The Paris and Tokyo Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have announced a collaborative Port State Control (PSC) Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) specifically targeting cargo securing practices. This campaign is scheduled to take place from September 1 to November 30, 2026. Its primary objective is to assess and enforce adherence to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) requirements concerning the loading, stowage, and securing of cargo units and transport units aboard vessels.
For freight forwarders and shippers, this upcoming CIC signifies an increased scrutiny on cargo securing procedures. Non-compliance could lead to vessel detentions, operational delays, and potential fines. It is crucial for all parties involved in the supply chain to ensure that cargo is correctly declared, packed, stowed, and secured according to international standards. This proactive approach will help mitigate risks, maintain schedule reliability, and avoid disruptions to global logistics operations.
