Klaveness Combination Carriers (KCC) has officially taken delivery of the MV Baltazar, marking the completion of its three-vessel third-generation CABU series. The vessel was constructed by New Yangzi Shipyard in China and represents a significant step in KCC's fleet modernization efforts.
The MV Baltazar is notable for being the first vessel in KCC's fleet to feature a wind-assisted propulsion system. This, combined with other advanced energy efficiency technologies, is expected to improve operational performance and reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The CABU vessels are designed to transport both wet and dry bulk cargoes, offering operational flexibility.
For freight forwarders and shippers, the addition of more fuel-efficient vessels like the MV Baltazar to the global fleet could contribute to more sustainable shipping options and potentially more stable long-term freight costs due to reduced bunker consumption.
