Ethiopian Airlines Cargo has inaugurated a new freighter service, establishing a direct air cargo link between Chengdu, China, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The service, which began on August 28, operates from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD). This strategic expansion is designed to enhance trade and logistics capabilities between the Asian and African continents.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new service introduces additional capacity and a direct routing option for shipments moving between China and East Africa. It could potentially reduce transit times and offer more reliable scheduling for air cargo, particularly for time-sensitive goods. The direct connection may also influence air freight rates on this specific lane, offering a competitive alternative to existing routes or carriers. Forwarders should monitor capacity availability and pricing to leverage this new service for their clients' supply chains.
