This rise occurred despite observed efficiency improvements across nearly all vessel-size categories, based on an analysis of 86,389 voyages by 6,523 container vessels.
The study further uncovered a significant 31% difference in emissions intensity between various carriers operating on the same ocean trade lanes. This disparity suggests that while some carriers are making strides in operational efficiency and adopting greener practices, others lag behind, contributing to a broader industry average increase.
