Wilson ASA has announced the successful completion of its WilsonECO newbuilding program, marked by the delivery of the sixth and final vessel, the *WilsonECO VI*, from the UCSL shipyard in India. This concludes the series of six 3,800 DWT vessels designed for short sea operations.
The completion of this program signifies a phase in Wilson ASA's ongoing fleet renewal strategy. The company is now preparing for the next stage, which involves the introduction of eight larger newbuildings, each with a capacity of 6,300 DWT. This continued investment aims to modernize its fleet operating within the European short sea shipping sector.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the introduction of new, potentially more efficient vessels could lead to improved schedule reliability and potentially more competitive rates on European short sea routes. The larger capacity of the upcoming 6,300 DWT vessels may also offer increased flexibility for cargo volumes, particularly for breakbulk and general cargo movements within Europe.
