Seaspan ULC has signed a contract with Damen Shipyards Group for the acquisition of two ASD Tugs 2813. This procurement represents a significant step for Seaspan, as these will be the initial Damen-built tugboats to be integrated into their operational fleet. The formal agreement was executed on May 19 during the International Tug and Salvage (ITS) Convention held in Gothenburg, Sweden.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the addition of new tugboats to a major marine services provider like Seaspan indicates a potential enhancement in port efficiency and vessel handling capabilities, particularly in the regions where Seaspan operates. Improved tug services can contribute to faster vessel turnaround times and reduced delays for container ships and other cargo vessels, indirectly impacting schedule reliability and operational costs for shippers.
