PSA Vietnam has entered into an agreement with Lach Huyen Port Investment Joint Stock Company to co-develop and manage four deepsea container berths at Lach Huyen Port, located in Haiphong, northern Vietnam. This initiative is part of a larger project that includes the Lach Huyen International Logistics & Industrial Park. Once fully operational, the new facilities are projected to increase the port's annual container handling capacity to 4.5 million TEUs.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies a substantial increase in deepsea capacity in northern Vietnam. This expansion could lead to improved schedule reliability and potentially more competitive rates for shipments to and from the region, as carriers gain access to enhanced infrastructure. It also offers new routing options and reduces potential congestion at existing facilities, streamlining logistics operations for shippers utilizing Haiphong.
