Proteus Supply and Trading, based in the US, and UK-headquartered Propeller Fuels Ltd have established a new commercial partnership. This collaboration will integrate Proteus's existing activities across the Americas and the Caribbean with Propeller Fuels' extensive global reach, which is supported by offices in the UK, Greece, Dubai, and Singapore.
Both companies commenced operations in 2017. Proteus Supply initially focused on the South Florida market as a niche trading company and MGO supplier, catering to commercial shipping and yachting sectors. Propeller Fuels began as a bunker supplier in the UK. Proteus has since expanded its physical supply operations within Florida.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this partnership signifies a potentially broader and more robust network for bunker fuel procurement. Increased competition or expanded supply points could lead to more stable or competitive pricing for vessel operators, which might indirectly impact overall shipping costs and schedule reliability. Access to a wider supply network could also reduce bunkering delays, contributing to better on-time performance for carriers.
