Portsmouth International Port has announced the full operational status of its shore power system, following the completion of final testing phases last week. This development allows berthed vessels to switch off their auxiliary engines and draw electricity directly from the port's grid. Brittany Ferries' hybrid-electric vessels, the St Malo and the Guillaume de Normandie, which are part of a significant fleet renewal program, were the initial users during the system's commissioning. Additionally, two cruise ships, AIDAsol from AIDA and Amera from Phoenix Reisen, also utilized the shore power during testing.
