The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is moving forward with its circular economy initiatives by approving permits for three significant recycling projects. These projects represent a combined investment of €300 million and are spearheaded by Synpet, TripleW, and Bolder Industries. The new facilities are designed to process various waste streams, including plastics, food waste, and tires, transforming them into valuable resources.
This development is expected to generate new industrial cargo volumes, particularly for breakbulk and project cargo related to the construction and outfitting of these advanced recycling plants. For freight forwarders, this signifies potential opportunities in handling specialized equipment and materials for the construction phases, as well as managing inbound raw materials and outbound recycled products once operational. It also reinforces the port's commitment to sustainable logistics and industrial growth.
The investment is anticipated to create new jobs within the region and enhance the port's role as a hub for sustainable industrial activity. The focus on circularity aligns with broader European environmental goals, positioning the Port of Antwerp-Bruges as a leader in green logistics infrastructure.
