Africa's first multimodal green hydrogen hub, located in Walvis Bay, Namibia, is undergoing a substantial expansion. Initially a 5 MW pilot project, the facility is now scaling up to 500 MW. This development is a joint effort involving Namibia, CMB.TECH, and Siemens, with the primary goal of pioneering cleaner shipping practices and fostering innovation in renewable fuels.
This expansion positions Namibia as a key player in the global shift towards sustainable energy in the maritime sector. The hub's focus on green hydrogen production is expected to provide a viable alternative to traditional bunker fuels, contributing significantly to the decarbonization of shipping.
