Spanish energy company Moeve and logistics services provider Exolum have successfully secured €105 million in financing from BBVA and Kutxabank. This funding is designated for the development of the Muelle Sur transport hub, which is strategically located to support Moeve's nearby biofuels plant in Huelva, Spain. The project is already past its halfway construction point and will feature a new 511-meter-long berth.
This investment is crucial for establishing a robust supply chain for the biofuels plant, ensuring efficient handling of feedstocks and outbound products. For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signifies increased cargo traffic through the Port of Huelva, particularly for liquid bulk and potentially some project cargo related to plant operations. It could lead to new opportunities for specialized logistics services, especially those involved in the transport of biofuels and their raw materials. The new berth will enhance port capacity, potentially improving vessel turnaround times for relevant commodities.
The Muelle Sur hub is expected to become a primary gateway for the biofuels plant, indicating a long-term commitment to sustainable energy production and associated logistics infrastructure in the region.
