MASkargo and Qatar Airways Cargo have initiated a new dedicated freighter service, operating twice weekly between Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Bengaluru, India; and Doha, Qatar. This expanded partnership leverages Qatar Airways Cargo's Boeing 777 freighters, offering a substantial 200 tonnes of cargo capacity each week. The service is designed to transport a variety of goods, including general cargo, perishable items, and pharmaceuticals.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new route signifies an increase in air cargo capacity and connectivity across key Asian and Middle Eastern markets. The direct link between Kuala Lumpur and Bengaluru, via Doha, could offer more efficient routing options for shipments, potentially reducing transit times and improving schedule reliability for specific trade lanes. The dedicated capacity for perishables and pharmaceuticals is particularly beneficial for forwarders handling time-sensitive or temperature-controlled goods, providing more reliable space and potentially specialized handling. This development may also influence air freight rates on these routes, possibly offering more competitive pricing due to increased supply.
