Spanish renewable gases firm HyFive has announced a new term sheet for the annual supply of 10,000 tonnes of e-methanol. This supply is designated for an unnamed customer located within the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region. The e-methanol will originate from HyFive's HyMet Musel plant, currently under development at the Port of Gijón in Spain.
This latest agreement elevates the total contracted volume for the HyMet Musel facility to 60,000 tonnes per annum. This figure represents 60% of the plant's projected annual nominal capacity of 100,000 tonnes. The announcement follows a previous term sheet signed earlier this year, contributing to the overall contracted volume.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signals a growing commitment to alternative fuels within the maritime sector, particularly e-methanol. As more carriers and shippers adopt methanol-powered vessels, the demand for such bunkering solutions will increase.
