South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean has engaged TMC Compressors (TMC) to equip two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers with complete marine compressed air systems. These vessels are being constructed for a Greek shipowner whose identity has not been disclosed. The supplied systems will encompass both service and control air compressors, utilizing TMC's in-house design.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies ongoing investment in the global LNG fleet. While not directly impacting immediate rates or capacity, the construction of new LNG carriers contributes to the long-term stability and expansion of energy transport infrastructure. This ensures continued availability of specialized vessels for LNG shipments, which is crucial for global energy supply chains. The choice of specialized equipment like TMC's compressors highlights the technical requirements and quality standards in modern shipbuilding for gas carriers.
