Grandweld Shipyards, a shipbuilding company based in the UAE, has finalized an agreement with Bahri Logistics, the logistics arm of Saudi Arabia's national shipping carrier Bahri. The contract involves the design and construction of two offshore support vessels (OSVs) which are designated for service at Ras Tanura Port.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies an expansion of offshore support capabilities in a key Middle Eastern port. While not directly impacting container or general cargo rates, the addition of new OSVs can enhance efficiency for energy-related projects and specialized cargo movements in the region, potentially improving turnaround times for project cargo associated with the oil and gas sector. This could lead to more reliable scheduling for breakbulk and project cargo shipments requiring port-side support at Ras Tanura.
