Taiwan's state-owned CPC Corporation has announced a temporary suspension of new nominations for Low Sulphur Marine Gasoil (LSMGO) deliveries at Kaohsiung Port. This measure, which began last Friday, is a direct response to a severely constrained barge schedule and a significant backlog of pending orders that the supplier needs to clear.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this suspension means potential delays in vessel departures from Kaohsiung if their vessels rely on CPC for LSMGO bunkering. Shippers may experience schedule disruptions, and alternative bunkering options might need to be explored, potentially at higher costs or requiring rerouting to nearby ports with available supply. The situation highlights the critical importance of reliable bunker supply in maintaining vessel schedules and overall supply chain fluidity.
