AB Texel is taking a further step in greening its vehicle fleet by integrating an additional 85 new (Bio-)LNG trucks. This expansion will result in the company operating a total of 175 (Bio-)LNG-powered trucks by the close of 2026. These new vehicles are designated for the transportation of animal feed, agricultural goods, and dairy products, primarily operating on specific routes.
This initiative reflects a growing trend within the road transport sector towards adopting alternative fuels to mitigate environmental impact. The use of Bio-LNG, in particular, offers a pathway to reduce carbon emissions compared to conventional diesel.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signals a continued shift towards more sustainable logistics options, especially for inland European transport. While not directly impacting ocean or air freight rates, the increased availability of green road transport solutions could influence multimodal routing decisions and contribute to shippers' overall Scope 3 emissions reduction targets. It also suggests that carriers are investing in cleaner fleets, which may eventually translate into premium services for environmentally conscious cargo owners.
AB Texel's commitment to expanding its Bio-LNG fleet indicates a sustained focus on sustainability within its operations, aligning with broader industry goals for decarbonization.
