The Visayas Container Terminal (VCT), operated by ICTSI at the Port of Iloilo in the Philippines, recently welcomed the inaugural call of Maersk's PH6 service. This new service is expected to significantly improve international trade connectivity for the Visayas region, particularly for customers in Panay and the broader Western Visayas.
This new direct service offers shippers in the region enhanced access to major trade hubs in Asia, potentially reducing transit times and simplifying logistics. For freight forwarders and operations managers, this means new routing options and improved schedule reliability for cargo originating from or destined for the Western Visayas. It could also lead to more competitive freight rates due to increased direct service availability, offering a more efficient alternative to transshipment routes.
The introduction of the PH6 service is a strategic move to bolster the region's economic integration into global supply chains, providing a more direct and efficient pathway for goods.
