Verde Marine Energy, based in the Netherlands, has announced the successful completion of its first physical bunkering operation involving B100 Advanced FAME biofuel. This milestone delivery took place in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region, supplying the `Beautriton`, a vessel owned by Vertom and managed by Vertraco and ECL.
This event marks a significant step for Verde Marine Energy, moving beyond the preparatory stages for the RED III directive to actively providing certified sustainable marine biofuels to commercial vessels. For this bunkering, the company collaborated with Sunoil Biodiesel and IJsselland Bio Fuels B.V., loading the B100 at the Standic terminal in Dordrecht, Netherlands.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the increasing availability of B100 biofuel in key bunkering hubs like the ARA region offers more options for shippers aiming to reduce their supply chain emissions. This development supports the broader industry trend towards decarbonization and could influence carrier choices and green shipping corridor initiatives, potentially impacting vessel routing and fuel surcharges for eco-friendly services.
