Dutch glass producer Steinfort Glas has announced the transfer of its transport operations to Visser Transporten Bolsward, effective July 1, 2026. Gerlof Reijneker, managing director and co-owner of Steinfort Glas, stated that this move is based on a long-standing and positive collaboration between the two companies. Visser Transporten is already well-acquainted with Steinfort's products and operational processes.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signifies a consolidation of transport services within the region. While not directly impacting international ocean or air freight rates, it highlights a trend of companies outsourcing specialized logistics functions to dedicated carriers. For shippers in the Netherlands, this could mean a more streamlined and potentially efficient inland distribution network for glass products, as a specialist carrier takes over. It also suggests that Visser Transporten Bolsward is expanding its dedicated contract logistics services.
