SeaBird Exploration, a Cyprus-based subsidiary, announced that its vessel, the Voyager, has been awarded a three-month contract for ocean bottom node (OBN) source operations in West Africa. The Voyager, built in 2009, will commence this assignment after concluding its current activities in the Western Hemisphere.
This contract underscores the ongoing demand for specialized offshore support vessels in the West African energy sector. OBN technology is crucial for high-resolution seismic data acquisition, which aids in oil and gas exploration and production. For freight forwarders, this signifies a consistent need for project cargo logistics, potentially involving the movement of specialized equipment and supplies to support such offshore operations in the region. While this specific contract primarily involves vessel deployment, it reflects broader activity that can generate ancillary logistics requirements.
The vessel is expected to begin its West African deployment following the completion of its current work.
