Sallaum Lines has recently expanded its 'Ocean Class' fleet with the addition of two new LNG dual-fuel Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs), named Ocean Express and Ocean Navigator. These vessels were constructed by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) Co. and are registered under the Cyprus flag. Each PCTC boasts a substantial cargo capacity of 7,400 CEU (Car Equivalent Units) spread across 13 decks. Their design is versatile, capable of accommodating a wide array of cargo, including standard passenger vehicles, heavy commercial trucks, high-clearance SUVs, various rolling machinery, and oversized project cargo.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the introduction of these new vessels signifies an increase in capacity for roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) cargo, particularly for the automotive sector and specialized project cargo. The dual-fuel LNG capability also points to Sallaum Lines' commitment to more sustainable shipping, which could be a factor for shippers prioritizing greener supply chain options. This expansion may offer more flexible booking options and potentially stable rates for vehicle and oversized cargo movements on the routes served by Sallaum Lines.
