SAL Heavy Lift has officially taken delivery of the *Patricia*, the third vessel in its Orca-class fleet. This new heavy-lift vessel is scheduled to commence its maiden voyage soon, carrying wind energy equipment from Asia to Europe.
Unlike the previous two Orca-class vessels, the *Elise* and *Frida*, which were immediately placed under long-term charter agreements upon delivery, the *Patricia* will initially be commercially operated by SAL itself. This allows SAL to directly manage the vessel's initial assignments and potentially optimize its deployment for specific project cargo needs.
For freight forwarders and project cargo specialists, the addition of the *Patricia* enhances SAL's capacity for transporting oversized and heavy-lift components, particularly for the growing wind energy sector. This could offer more options for project logistics, potentially impacting scheduling and availability for complex shipments between Asia and Europe. The direct commercial operation by SAL might also provide greater flexibility in securing space for specific project requirements.
