The Port of Rotterdam Authority, in collaboration with Necron Group and PTP Group, has finalized an agreement to develop a significant logistics hub within Europoort. This project will encompass 38 hectares dedicated to the storage and transshipment of chilled and frozen agri-food products. Key components of the development include the construction of a new quay wall, advanced cold storage warehouses, comprehensive terminal facilities, and an on-site energy supply system.
This expansion is designed to bolster the port's infrastructure for temperature-controlled cargo, addressing the growing demand for specialized logistics in the food sector. For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies increased capacity and potentially more efficient handling options for perishable goods moving through Rotterdam. The dedicated facilities could lead to improved transit times and reduced risks associated with cold chain logistics, offering new routing possibilities for agri-food shipments into and out of Europe.
