The Port of Tarragona has expanded its operational capabilities at the Moll de Catalunya (Catalonia Wharf) through the full assembly and deployment of a new Konecranes Gottwald ESP.8B mobile harbor crane. Stevedoring company Euroports Ibérica oversaw the installation of the unit, which initially arrived at the Spanish port in mid-February aboard the general cargo vessel Elsborg. The crane was delivered in a dismantled state from Düsseldorf.
This investment directly addresses the growing demand for specialized handling of heavy-lift and project cargo. For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development means improved efficiency and potentially faster turnaround times for oversized and heavy shipments moving through Tarragona. The enhanced capacity could also attract more project cargo to the port, offering new routing options for complex logistics operations in the region.
