The Port of Antwerp-Bruges International, along with the APEC Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center, has formalized an agreement with the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA). This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is designed to enhance maritime transport links and logistics corridors between the ports involved. Key aspects of the collaboration include sharing knowledge on port management, operational efficiency, competitiveness, safety protocols, and environmental protection measures.
Furthermore, the MoU addresses the modernization and reconstruction of port infrastructure in Ukraine, exploring potential investments and public-private partnerships. To support these initiatives, APEC will organize specialized training programs, workshops, and study visits for USPA personnel.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this agreement signifies potential improvements in the connectivity and operational reliability of Ukrainian ports, particularly as reconstruction efforts progress. Enhanced efficiency and modernized infrastructure could lead to more stable and predictable transit times for cargo moving to and from Ukraine, potentially reducing operational risks and improving supply chain resilience in the region. The focus on expertise exchange may also contribute to higher service standards and better environmental practices, which are increasingly important for global supply chains.
