Petronas, through its Malaysia Petroleum Management division, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with several regional exploration and production (E&P) operators and Universiti Teknologi Petronas. The agreement, signed by Petronas, Petronas Carigali, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, PTTEP, and Pertamina, focuses on jointly assessing opportunities to enhance oil recovery from offshore fields.
This collaboration seeks to pool resources and expertise to optimize the extraction of oil from existing offshore acreages. For freight forwarders, this development could indirectly influence demand for specialized offshore support vessels, project cargo logistics for equipment, and potentially lead to increased activity in ports supporting the oil and gas sector in the region, particularly for breakbulk and heavy-lift operations related to field development and maintenance.
