Ocean Network Express (ONE) has inaugurated its new weekly container shipping service, the Iberia Baltic Express. This service establishes a direct maritime connection between the Port of Riga in Latvia and ports in Portugal, a historical first for Riga. The new route is designed to substantially enhance ONE's regional network, providing Latvian exporters and importers with improved access to both European and global markets.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new service means increased direct capacity and potentially more reliable transit times for cargo moving between the Baltic region and the Iberian Peninsula. The direct link could reduce reliance on transshipment hubs, streamlining supply chains and potentially lowering costs for shippers. It also opens new routing options for cargo originating from or destined for Latvia, offering greater flexibility in logistics planning.
