The Ocean Alliance, a consortium of major container shipping lines including CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping Lines, OOCL, and Evergreen Marine Corporation, is set to expand its Europe–Far East network. This expansion involves the addition of Gdansk, Poland, to its AEU7 service, with the new call scheduled to commence in August. The AEU7 service, currently operated by COSCO Shipping Lines and OOCL, will extend its reach into the Baltic region, providing direct access to this key European market.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this service extension means improved direct connectivity between the Far East and the Baltic Sea region. The addition of Gdansk as a direct port call could lead to shorter transit times and potentially more stable scheduling for cargo destined for or originating from Poland and surrounding countries. This enhanced routing option may also influence capacity and rates on this specific trade lane, offering more choices for shippers.
