Norwegian Energy Trading AS has announced the renewal of its International Sustainability and Carbon Certification EU (ISCC EU). This certification, valid until May 15, 2027, confirms the company's adherence to the EU's RED III certification standards for trading biofuel products.
The ISCC EU certification specifically allows Norwegian Energy Trading to handle final biofuel products derived from various feedstocks. These include palm oil mill effluent (POME) originating from Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as used cooking oil (UCO) sourced from China. The company noted that this renewal coincides with a period of consistent growth in its biofuel trading volumes.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this development signals continued demand for sustainable fuel options in maritime transport. The reliance on feedstocks from specific regions like Malaysia, Indonesia, and China could influence shipping routes and demand for bulk liquid transport. Forwarders involved in the supply chain for these biofuels may see stable or increasing volumes, potentially impacting vessel capacity and scheduling for relevant trade lanes.
