The Netherlands has established itself as one of Europe's largest markets for imported used cars. Research conducted by Quintegia and AutoScout24, presented at the National Automotive Congress 2026, reveals that the value of imported used vehicles reached approximately 3.5 billion euros in 2025. This figure represents a substantial increase, being more than eleven times the import value recorded in 2021.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this trend indicates a robust and growing demand for automotive logistics services within the Netherlands, particularly for road transport. The significant volume of used car imports will likely drive increased demand for specialized vehicle transport, customs clearance, and potentially storage solutions. This could lead to higher utilization of road freight capacity and a need for efficient cross-border operations, impacting routing and operational planning for vehicle movements across Europe.
