Ray-Mont Logistics, a Canadian company, is developing its third US transload facility at the Port of Mobile, Alabama. This strategic move is driven by Mobile's recently completed harbor deepening project, which now allows access for larger container vessels. The new site is intended to serve as an alternative export hub for plastic resins, a commodity predominantly shipped from the US Gulf Coast.
This expansion by Ray-Mont Logistics provides freight forwarders and shippers with a new option for exporting plastic resins, potentially easing pressure on the Port of Houston, which is a major but often congested gateway for these exports. The increased capacity and deeper draft at Mobile could lead to more competitive shipping options and improved schedule reliability for resin exporters.
