An Indian national serving as a seafarer on the vessel MT Celestial died from medical complications while the ship was docked at Duqm Port in Oman. The Indian embassy in Muscat released a statement confirming the passing and indicated that arrangements are currently underway to facilitate the prompt repatriation of the individual's remains to India.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, while tragic, this incident is an isolated event and is not expected to have any direct impact on port operations, vessel schedules, or freight rates at Duqm Port or in the wider region. Such occurrences are handled under standard maritime protocols for crew welfare and repatriation, which do not typically affect cargo movement or vessel turnaround times.
