Inchcape Shipping Services has officially launched its Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) service within the United States. This strategic move comes after the company successfully obtained an Ocean Transportation Intermediary license from the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC). The new license authorizes Inchcape Shipping Services to operate as a fully licensed NVOCC, facilitating the movement of cargo both into and out of the US market.
For freight forwarders and shippers, the introduction of Inchcape's NVOCC service means an additional player in the competitive US ocean freight market. This could lead to increased service options and potentially more competitive pricing for FCL and LCL shipments. Forwarders might consider leveraging Inchcape's new offering for their US-bound or US-originating cargo, potentially enhancing their network and service flexibility.
