Gulftainer has announced plans for the Al Dhaid Multi-Modal Trade Corridor, a significant logistics development in the United Arab Emirates. This new 150-hectare hub, located approximately 50 kilometers from Khorfakkan Port, is designed to expand the port's capacity, offering an additional 1.5 million TEUs annually. A key feature of the project is its physical integration with the Etihad Rail network, which will connect the port directly to inland regions.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies enhanced logistical options for cargo moving through the UAE. The integration with Etihad Rail will provide a more efficient and potentially faster route for distributing goods from Khorfakkan Port across the country, bypassing road congestion and reducing transit times. This multi-modal corridor could offer a competitive alternative for shippers looking to optimize their supply chains, potentially impacting routing decisions and overall operational costs for cargo destined for or originating from the UAE's east coast.
This initiative aims to bolster the UAE's position as a regional trade and logistics hub, improving connectivity and facilitating smoother cargo flows between sea and rail networks.
