The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), in collaboration with the German Shipbrokers’ Association (ZVDS) and the German Shipowners’ Association (VDR), has initiated a joint program to support German maritime SMEs. This partnership focuses on providing practical training and resources to strengthen business integrity and compliance practices within the sector. The Siemens Integrity Initiative is backing this collaborative effort.
This program is designed to equip smaller maritime companies with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively manage corruption risks and adhere to international compliance standards. Such initiatives are crucial for maintaining fair business practices and ensuring operational continuity in a global industry often exposed to integrity challenges.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this training signifies a push towards more transparent and ethical business environments, particularly when dealing with German maritime partners. Enhanced compliance among SMEs could lead to more predictable operations, reduced legal risks, and potentially smoother transactions, as partners become more adept at navigating anti-corruption regulations. It may also foster greater trust and reliability within the supply chain.
The collaboration is expected to provide ongoing support, suggesting a sustained effort to embed integrity deeply within the German maritime industry.
