Freedom Intermodal has announced the addition of new automated bulk liquid packaging capacity at its facility in New Orleans East. This strategic enhancement is designed to strengthen the logistical ties between the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) and the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB), which provides critical access to six Class I rail carriers.
This development is particularly significant for freight forwarders and shippers dealing with bulk liquid commodities. The increased capacity and automation are anticipated to result in more efficient cargo handling, potentially leading to faster transit times and reduced operational costs. Furthermore, the improved integration with the extensive rail network offers shippers greater control over their supply chains and more flexible routing options for inland distribution.
For freight forwarders, this means better access to intermodal solutions for liquid bulk, potentially opening up new service offerings and competitive advantages for clients moving goods through the Gulf Coast. The enhanced rail connectivity can also help mitigate reliance on single-mode transport, offering more resilient supply chain options.
